This apple crumble oats recipe is a great way to warm up baby’s belly on a crisp fall morning. Full of fiber, iron, protein and potassium and super delicious! Mommy loves it too! This simple breakfast recipe can be made for any member of the family! We puree it smooth and creamy for baby’s that are just starting to eat solid food.


Apple Crumble Oats
Apples mashed with steel cut oats, cinnamon, vanilla bean & raisins. A great way to warm up baby's belly on a crisp fall morning. Full of fiber, iron, protein and potassium.Stage 2 Food, 6 mos.+Makes 1/2 cup – which is enough for 2-3 meals for baby
Equipment
- Medium Pot
- Measuring Spoons
- Liquid Measuring Cup
- Immersion blender or food processor
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup Cooked steel cut oat groats can use rolled oats as well (cuts prep time in half)
- 1/4 cup No sugar added applesauce
- 2 tsp. Flame Raisins traditional raisins are fine
- 1/4 tsp. Vanilla bean scrape inside of vanilla bean
- 1/4 tsp. Vietnamese cinnamon
- 2 tsp. Organic chia seed *adds omega threes, optional
Instructions
- Cook steel cut oat groats according to instructions
- Remove from heat and mix in applesauce, cinnamon, raisins, vanilla bean
- Serve as is for family members stage 3+ For new eaters (stage 2 babies) let cool slightly and puree in food processor or with immersion blender until smooth and creamy for baby (6 mos. +)
- If feeding to baby, add some warm formula or breastmilk prior to serving to ensure consistency is extra smooth and creamy
Notes
Great source of soluble fiber for baby and super tasty!! Quadruple the recipe and do not puree, and the entire family can enjoy this comforting breakfast dish. This is a baby favorite!
*Store covered in refrigerator up to 1 week. Does not freeze well.
